Bauhaus Gallery
Hair Design Studio
Background
Many have tried to sell the idea of hair as art, but few have taken the step that the Bauhaus Gallery has of mixing hair with art. An award-winning salon by day and an art gallery by night, Bauhaus Gallery had a unique challenge in reaching both audiences effectively. The identity of the organization needed to be appropriate for both audiences while conveying the idea that, with a flip of a switch, Bauhaus Gallery can change from hair to art, and with each you get a truly memorable experience.
Approach
The essentials of Bauhaus Gallery's brand - great hair, a truly expert staff, hair that fits the client, great art, and a calming experience - are conveyed through a new logo, signage, collateral, and website. The motto of the Bauhaus movement was that "form follows function," and if there's one description about the hair that walks out of the studio, it's functional. The brand begged for a logo that adhered to the idea of functionality as well, and through the use of 180 degree views, the logo instantly changes from hair studio to gallery. The line "Studio by Day, Gallery by Night" was infused into the lexicon of Bauhaus, and it immediately sets the stage that Bauhaus Gallery is something truly different, and something that you have to experience at least once.
